November 16 has always been a special day in the Arnett household but now, since the birth of a beautiful baby boy, it’s a triple celebration.
Katie Arnett’s son, Alexander Bernard, is her third child to be born on that day.
The newborn will share his birthdays with sisters Iris Ellen, eight, and Eada Rose, two.
Mrs Arnett, 32, of Leas Road, Deal, and originally from Hythe, said: “Everyone keeps saying how unusual it is and that we should contact the newspapers.”
In 2008, another family achieved the same feat and was reported to have beaten odds of 133,000 to one.
"I didn’t get to hospital in time and I had him at home on the stair landing delivered by my mum and two amazing paramedics,” - Katie Arnett
However, unlike them, all three of Mrs Arnett’s children born on November 16 have had natural births, so they could have beaten even higher odds.
She said: “I had two difficult births before at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. My eldest, Iris, had to be induced and Eada came very quickly when I had been in hospital for about 11 minutes, so I was down to have Alexander at hospital.
"I didn’t get there in time and I had him at home on the stair landing delivered by my mum and two amazing paramedics.”
“My eldest, who insisted on helping, is absolutely over the moon about it, but then, she is used to it and has had to share her birthdays with Eada.
“Eada is only two and is too young to really understand it.
“We had a birthday celebration on the Sunday [the day before] while I was in labour.”
The children also have another sister, Ailsa, who was four on March 22.
Being born at 5am meant Mrs Arnett had plenty of time to spend with the children in the morning and when they came back from school, they ordered a Chinese takeaway.
Her children were due on different dates so she had no idea they would be born on the same day of the year.
Iris was due on November 17, Eada on November 7 and Alexander was expected to arrive on November 6.
Being a seasoned mother-of-four, the new arrival has fitted in perfectly. “He is gorgeous. He has a full head of hair and is really chilled,” she said.
What’s more he is being watched over by his three adoring big sisters.
