A life-long Liverpool Football Club fan from Deal has won a surprise ticket to see his heroes play against Arsenal at Anfield.

Paul Humphries, 43, who is originally from Liverpool, was nominated by his wife, Alison, for the Gala Bingo TV Festive Full House promotion to find three undiscovered heroes from across the UK.

The football fan gave up work to care for his wife and their four children after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and since then has been the family’s rock.

He said: "Alison and I were due to go out to do some Christmas shopping for the family, but she seemed to be taking a lot more time to get ready than usual.

"When Gala TV turned up at my door, I suddenly realised that she had been in on the surprise, which was lovely."

Paul, who hasn’t been to a game in 15 years, was stunned when Mike Mason and the film crew turned up at his front door.

He added: "I had no idea that she had nominated me, but it was a really pleasant surprise.

"I couldn't wait to take Alison’s father to the match, as he is an Arsenal fan."
