Have you ever tried dining out without being able to see?

A fundraising evening for Guide Dogs for the blind offers the chance to do just that.

Dine in the Dark is being organised by the Deal and Dover branch of the national charity and it challenges people to slip on a blindfold and tuck in.

The novel fundraiser includes a three course set menu of meat, fish or a vegetarian dishes for £35 per person.

The evening comprises a dinner, auction and raffle.

Branch organiser Liz Sykes said: "Will it enhance your taste buds? Join us to find out."

Dine in the Dark takes place on Saturday, March 2, at the Royal Hotel in Deal from 6.45pm.

Prebooking is required with food choices given by Saturday, February 23.

A deposit of £20 is payable on booking.

Guide Dogs was the former Mercury Charity of the Year 2013 and as part of our support news editor Beth Robson undertook a blind walk around Deal with MP Charlie Elphicke.

The challenge included an unguided walk with a white stick, followed by a guided walk with specially trained Labrador Bee (pictured).

It proved how the dogs enhance mobility and day to day life for the blind and partially sighted.
