Two of Dover's well-known residents have died.

Evelyn Fuller, who was 104, was one of the oldest people in East Kent.

Born in east London, she celebrated her 90th birthday by starting to write a book about her early years in London. It was published when she was 100.

A keen pianist, Mrs Fuller played with the Minerva Orchestra in Dover, and accompanied the Dover Methodist Circuit Ladies Choir for many years.

She and her husband Frank, who died in 1979, moved to Dover in 1935 when Mr Fuller joined the Immigration Service. They had two daughters.

Mrs Fuller's funeral service is at River Methodist Church on Monday 3 August at 1.30pm.

Bob Fletcher, who spent nearly 50 years working at a Dover estate agency, has also died. He was 79.

Born in the town, Mr Fletcher worked for Tersons from 1944 through to his retirement when he was 65 in 1994.

He attended Barton Junior School as a boy and was evacuated to Wales during the Second World War. He did two years National Service with the RAF.

He and his wife Sylvia were married in 1958 and had two daughters.

Mr Fletcher served as treasurer for the blind association in Dover for some years, and was a supporter of Willesborough Mill.

The funeral takes place on Friday July 24 at 10am at Charlton Church.
