A three-vehicle smash blocked a road and caused delays.

Delays of up to 40 minutes were reported after the A258 Dover Road was closed in both directions between Ringwould Road and Ripple Road.

A passerby noted three cars damaged on the route which runs towards Deal.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 4.49 pm.

A spokesman added: “Two fire engines attended, and crews assisted Kent Police in making the scene safe.”

Emergency services left the site at 5.18 pm.

According to traffic monitoring tool Inrix, the road has now reopened in both directions, and traffic has returned to normal.
