Man airlifted to hospital after mobility scooter hit by car in Walmer near Deal

A mobility scooter rider was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car on a seafront road.

Police and paramedics attended the scene of the incident in The Beach, Walmer, near Deal.

An air ambulance was also called shortly before 2pm yesterday (Tuesday).

It led to the male casualty being flown to a London hospital to be treated for his injuries.

A spokesman for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex said: "A helicopter was dispatched to Deal.

"Our crew arrived on scene at 2pm where they worked with the ambulance service and police to help treat the patient involved in a road traffic collision.

"They then transported the patient to a major trauma centre by air with our crew continuing to deliver their care en-route.”

Onlookers said emergency services remained at the scene until about 3pm.

One person said: "Speedy recovery to those involved."
