Man named and charged after 'dine-and-dash' at The Royal Hotel in Deal

A man has been charged over a ‘dine-and-dash’ incident which left a restaurant £95 out of pocket.

Police were called to The Royal Hotel in Deal on Monday after it was reported a man had consumed food and drink to that value and did not pay.

Officers attended the Beach Street restaurant and a man was arrested on suspicion of theft.

Following an investigation, Anthony Lamont, 43, was charged with theft yesterday.

Lamont, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.
