A man is being questioned by police following an alleged robbery in Dover.

Officers were called to the junction of Eastbrook Place with Castle Street at 7.30am today after receiving reports that a man had been seen with a gun.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently in custody at Canterbury police station.

Fire crews were also called to the scene after it was reported there had been a road accident.

Castle Street and a section of Maison Dieu Road were closed off for several hours while an investigation was carried out.
