A masterplan for the Coombe Valley area of Dover has come a step closer with the publication of a report on its regeneration.
The report, produced by the Homes and Community Agency, follows a series of community consultations and detailed analysis of the area.
It details the findings from the community and other research undertaken over the past three months.
The research was undertaken to gain a comprehensive understanding of the key issues and to develop a series of objectives as a focus for further regeneration efforts.
There was strong community endorsement for the Triangles Centre as a facility and venue for events and activities and many people valued the proximity of jobs generated by the many businesses within the Valley.
Other significant feedback related to the attractive landscape setting and the strong sense of community.
Issues of concern relate to transport links with the rest of Dover, the generally unattractive appearance of the built environment, as well as concerns about Coombe Valley Road in terms of traffic, safety and appearance.
Among the objectives are the creation of “a new heart” in Coombe Valley, and the provision of improved recreational facilities.
The report is summarised in an information booklet and a brochure which can be downloaded or viewed at the Dover Council offices at Whitfield, the Triangles Centre in Coombe Valley, or from Dover Pride on www.doverpride.co.uk
