A Deal teenager found herself mingling among ITV’s Loose Women last week ahead of competing in a beauty pageant.
Kerys Squire, 18, of Allenby Avenue, will go up against more than 40 teenagers from around the country when she takes part in Miss Teen Great Britain at The Globe Theatre in Blackpool on Tuesday.
In a bid to gain what she has described as the ultimate teen title, she has made almost 100 event appearances and volunteered at charity events and kept up her 100 days of isolation social media campaign.
But her appearance at the ITV studios last Tuesday topped them as all as she joined the audience for the lunchtime chat show Loose Women and afterwards got to meet lady hosts Janet Street-Porter, Nadia Sawalha, Andrea McLean and Gloria Hunniford.
Accompanying her was her biggest support, mum Lisa Hale.
She said: “I absolutely loved every minute especially getting called up to meet the ladies as they congratulated me on competing in Miss Teen GB and wished me luck. I got to tell them about my charity work and isolation campaign of which they also congratulated me on. It was an incredible day.”
Miss Squire, a former Castle Community College pupil, has been competing in pageants since 2014.
Her first title was Miss Teen Face of the Year.
The aspiring air stewardess then went on to be named Miss Teen Fresh Face in 2015.
In November 2016, she competed in Miss European, representing Ireland. She was placed as deputy Irish princess.
In March this year, she placed as third runner up in the UK Galaxy Pageant, which has led her to enter this contest.
She said: “I have a few more appearances before I leave for the competition next week. I’ll be making appearances right until the very end.
“Dreams are achieved through hard work and determination and I’m giving this one my all.”
She has given special thanks to people who have helped her during her journey - Lisa Hale, Heather Austin, Maddie Wahdan, Tracey Brett, Julie Elms, Janine Ball, Ellie Toohig, JLR Brow Bar and David Swan.
