Graffiti that says 'no to war' painted onto MP Charlie Elphicke's office window in Walmer

A graffiti vandal has daubed the message "No to war" on the front window of Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke's office in Walmer.

The red writing, which has now been removed by Tory staff, has been branded as "political violence" by Mr Elphicke.

There was no CCTV to catch the culprits, who targeted the building on The Strand over the festive period.

It is thought that it relates to Parliament's decision to launch airstrikes over Syria in December.

Mr Elphicke, who represents Dover and Deal, called it a Christmas present.

He told KentOnline: "Political violence is the hallmark of the hard left militant Labour Party.

"We've seen a resurgence of this under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership.

"Sadly we can expect to see more of this extreme kind of behaviour."

Labour Group leader, county, Dover district and Deal town Cllr Mike Eddy, said: "I would deplore all acts of vandalism and I also deplore making political capitalism out of them.

"I would also like to point out to Charlie that the Labour offices have been vandalised in the past as well.

"It is not something to do with Jeremy Corbyn's leadership at all."
