It won’t be just about tea and sympathy at Georgina Bishop’s Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning at the Deal Hoy.
But then, it never has been.
The event on Saturday, September 14, has live music, classic car rides and even a nail bar.
Mrs Bishop has been running the events for about 10 years. This year, she has a raffle, bursting with goods from small businesses, like meals at the Dining Club, the Court Yard and Middle Street Fish Bar.
Olivia Dodge, 13, is setting up her nail bar for the second year running, offering ladies (and gents if they feel inclined) the chance to have their nails decorated.
Her little sister Hannah, six, is selling cakes from her hamper too. She started at her home in Middle Street, where she held two coffee mornings. When they grew in popularity, she relocated them to the Port Arms and now their regular home is the Deal Hoy in Duke Street.
The event is one of thousands of Macmillan coffee mornings throughout the year, but September is the official month for what is branded the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Mac McKean will be performing live music throughout the day and if the weather is fine, the garden is a lovely spot to enjoy your coffee and have a chat.
Georgina Bishop’s coffee morning takes place at the Deal Hoy, Duke Street, Deal, between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, September 14. If you would like to donate to the raffle, telephone 07757113503.
