Two male strippers will be getting their kit off to raise money and awareness of a genetic blood clotting condition next month.
It has been arranged by Deal mum Aimee Smith, whose five-year-old son Charlie has severe type-A haemophilia, factor eight, which means his blood doesn’t clot when he cuts himself and bruises easily.
The Downs Primary pupil is also at risk of experiencing bleeds on his joints, which can affect his mobility until he has recovered.
Mrs Smith, of Mary Road, said she knew Charlie would have the disorder at birth, as it is something she has which had been passed through her family but, on a positive note, Charlie has been bleed free for three years now.
Mrs Smith said: “It is amazing for someone with it he has done very well.
“He does swimming and tennis lessons because the more active he is, the stronger his joints and muscles become.”
It is also down to the preventative treatment that Charlie recieves which involves injecting Charlie with substitute clotting factor every other day.
The charity night at Deal Welfare Club on Saturday, April 9, which also includes a performance from a drag-artist, aims to give money to the Haemophilia Society which supports people and families who have the condition.
Mrs Smith, 35, also said the night will help to “erase the stigma” attached to the condition and to reinforce positivity.
She said: “You can’t show your child about all the worry behind it but to see how things have evolved now, it is so amazing what treatment can do.”
The fundraiser will include a raffle, and tickets can be bought from the club in Cowdray Square by calling: 01304 374335.
