Deal’s new nightclub The Ocean Rooms will still be opening on Good Friday, owner Paul Blair has reassured KentOnline.
Despite the building’s exterior still donning the old Rivals signs, it’s all stations go inside.
Mr Blair, of Media Leisure Ltd, said: “The place has been gutted and put back together again. The old owners came in and said they didn’t recognise it.”
But what clubbers will see isn’t necessarily the finished product.
He said: “It’s ongoing. We’ve spent an absolute fortune and we’re going to continue to spend until it’s right.”
There will be a strict enforcement on ID. Mr Blair has already adopted a state of the art scanning system.
He said: “People can’t get in without photo ID.”
He has also been given lists of the names of people barred from other establishments in the town, who will not be let in.
After all of his hard work, Mr Blair wants it to be a “nice place for people to go.”
One final change will be made on Thursday when the old Rivals and Academy signs outside will be replaced with new ones.
The club in Queen Street will be open for three nights running this Bank Holiday weekend, from 9pm until 3am.
DJ Gareth Hopkins will be playing commercial dance music in the Channel Club with DJ Adam White delivering chart party anthems in the Coast Bar.
Entry will be free from 9pm until 10pm. It will cost £3 between 10pm and 11pm, £5 from 11pm until midnight and £10 thereafter.
The dress code is smart casual, no sports tops, hoodies or trainers allowed.
There will be drinks promotions throughout the night.
