Although his managerial career is still in its relative infancy, new Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster has been around for too long as a player to underestimate Saturday’s FA Cup visitors Wroxham.
The Norfolk club may have lost their last two matches and operate in a league three levels below the Whites but Forster said: "They are still second in their league, with games in hand on the leaders and will have plenty of confidence – and that makes them dangerous no matter what league they are in."
Forster (pictured) had Wroxham watched on Tuesday as the club missed their chance to go back to the top of the Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Premier Division with a 2-1 home defeat to Gorleston. It was their second defeat in 12 league games.
Although last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Welling was the Whites’ fifth goalless 90 minutes of the season, Forster said there were a lot of positives to take.
Chief among them, perhaps, was the performance of Ollie Schulz who, having been brought in back in to the team by Forster following his fall out with former manager Martin Hayes, gave the sort of dominating performance at centre-half which had become familiar when Andy Hessenthaler was in charge at Crabble.
Forster said: "Whatever problems Ollie had with Martin (Hayes), it would have been stupid of me not to give him the chance to make a fresh start. He showed that he can give us an extra dimension at the back with his aggressive aerial power."
