A new Aldi store will be opened by Olympic Bronze rower James Foad.
The German chain's latest supermarket will open in Deal at 8am on Thursday, November 28 and fresh fruit and vegetables will be handed to the first 30 customers.
Store manager Julian Baker said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store on West Street.
"It’s set to be a special day as we’ll be celebrating the opening of Aldi’s first store in Deal and having Olympic hero, James Foad, join us will make it a morning to remember.”
Rowing champion, James Foad who won bronze in the 2012 Olympics, added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store, it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its endless support of Team GB.”
It comes after he opened the Hythe store last month.
Aldi is Britain’s fifth largest supermarket.
The purpose built Deal shop takes 1,254 sqm of retail space built on the former Co-op.
The chain says exclusive offers will run throughout opening day. the fruit and veg goody bags come from its Super 6 range.
Recruitment has taken place for the unspecified number of new jobs the store will create.
The retailer aims to have 1,200 stores by 2025 and is committed to further improving its existing stores for customers across the country.
Aldi Deal, will have large chillers and freezers dedicated to fresh, British meat products, a Food to Go section at the front of the store, a fixture along the back wall showcasing Aldi’s award-winning beers, wines and spirits, and an exclusive section full of health & beauty products.
Aldi’s Specialbuys will also be available every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a products ranging from electrical items to garden tools.
Mr Baker is also calling on local charities and food banks in Deal to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in their community. This means they can receive regular donations of surplus food from the supermarket.
Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week.
