An adventure golf course in Deal with interactive water features and links to the town's history will open this week, bosses have confirmed

The seafront attraction will open from 9am on Friday with the pool following shortly after from 11am.

The scheme was passed by planners in February 2021 and construction started earlier this year.

Now after months of waiting, the course is taking bookings ready for opening day.

Its design references the area’s vast history including nods to smugglers and the town's fishing past.

The Tudor Rose, which pays homage to Dover Castle, also features in the course.

Water features will run through it with players expected to pull themselves across some areas using a raft.

There is also a Roman Galley boat and a recreation of Walmer Castle where players can battle through the towers and ramparts playing four different holes on the way.

Both attractions are being run by Michael Humphries who took over the lease for Walmer Paddling Pool last summer.

Mr Humphries says the popular pool will continue to be free to keep it open to the community.

He said: "We are really excited, it looks 100 times better than we could have expected.

"We are delighted with the course, it has something for kids and adults.

"The pool is ready to go, the floor has been redone so it looks lovely and it's perfect timing with such a hot weekend.

"It has always been free and we want to keep it free so as many people as possible can access it and we don't want to change that.

"Bookings have been strong and we are anticipating a busy weekend.

"We have made a significant investment in the site of over half a million pounds as well as creating 14 new jobs and have lots more exciting plans for the future to make the site an all year round attraction."

The kiosk by the pool has also had a revamp and will be serving Costa Coffee as well as Solleys Ice Cream.

Mr Humphries, who is behind adventure course Rascal Bay in Manston, will run each site in conjunction with each other, but with separate entrances.

The pool will be open daily until 5pm throughout the season unless except in bad weather.

Tickets can be prebooked or pay on the day, with adult tickets priced at £9.00 and children at £6.50.

Family and group discounts are also available.
