The opening date of a highly anticipated new budget supermarket has been revealed.
Aldi in Deal will open on Friday, November 22, according to its site manager Lee Bradfield.
He told KentOnline that he and his team are "on track" to meet the deadline with the next stage of development being to insert roof panels.
As a result of this work, he also wanted to inform residents that the rear car park in Park Street will be closed throughout Monday.
This is to allow a crane lift to place the panels in position.
Barriers will restrict vehicles, including delivery vans, from entering the site during working hours.
Mr Bradfield said that signs have been put in place and local businesses have also been informed.
The discount supermarket’s plans for the former Co-op site were given the green light by Dover District Council’s planning committee in December 2018.
They had been rejected just three months before over objections to fell the mature trees on site.
Aldi has since faced criticism from nearby residents over vibrations from construction.
Tony Scarfe, 78, who has lived in Park Street for more than 30 years, said it felt like an earthquake.
The company apologised and confirmed it would replace a broken laptop, believed to have fallen off a desk at Barraclough and Partners insurance brokers. The business refused to comment.
