An overhanging tree at Martin Mill caused disruption to rail users travelling between Dover Priory and Ramsgate this morning.

The issue started to cause chaos for passengers at 9.45am.

The tree was hanging so far down that it was causing obstruction to the railway, stopping the train from passing.

The delay lasted for 45 minutes.

A replacement bus route was put in place while Network Rail came to the track, ensuring the it was safe enough for service to resume.

A spokeswoman for Southeastern said: “We just put in some replacement buses which were conveying customers between the service that was blocked.”

The line reopened at 10.26am.

She added: “There was a fairly quick response in that regard.

“Network Rail inspected the scene to make sure it was free for trains to come through.”

There are no more delays and the line is operating as normal.
