Families and friends are invited to pack up a picnic and relax to some great music at this year’s Picnic on the Green on Saturday.
The Walmer Parish Council event will take place on Walmer Green from 1pm to 5pm.
Chairman of the Council Pat Heath says, “Lots of groups will be joining us this year, from old friends like the Left Hookers American Car Club, to newcomers Deal and District Camera Club. PACE sports will once again be laying on a variety of sports for children to try. It’s a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon listening to some great live music with family and friends.” Local favourites The Kingsdown Band will provide the music for the afternoon and will be supported by Picnic first timers Mimi O’Halloran and KAS the Forces Sweetheart. A small children’s fairground will also provide fun for the younger ones at a small cost.
The Walmer In Bloom committee will hold an exhibition of photographs taken by members while they were out and about in the parish judging residents’ gardens.
Cllr Sue le Chevalier said: “It is such a joy to visit the many beautiful gardens in the parish, we felt we had to share some of that joy with the rest of the community.”
Photos of those gardens which made it through to the final round will be on show in the marquee from 1pm.
It is hoped the picnic will be an informal afternoon of fun and music.
