A couple from Deal who appeared on TV’s Come Dine With Me have cooked a meal for winners who bid for the prize in the Sandwich Prom auction.

Jill and Geoff Martin, of The Grove, who were joint winners on the Channel 4 show, offered their cooking expertise as a prize at the Martha Trust fundraiser in the Secret Gardens of Sandwich in July.

On Saturday, the pair visited the winners Jon and Kellie Magee at their home in Billericay in Essex, to cook a three-course meal for them.

Mrs Martin said: “We had a fabulous time in Essex and Jon and Kellie Magee who won the auction with their £400 bid and their four other guests were really lovely people.

“Jon made a point of telling us after that he doesn’t normally like or eat seafood – however he ate and loved our fab crab and prawn tikki with chilled out tomato chutney and peaceful pea puree.

“We all ended up playing charades.

“We had such a fabulous evening.

“We would like to thank Jon and Kellie for their donation to the Martha Trust.”

Mrs Martin, a retired sales manager for P&O Ferries, signed up to the cooking show – although her husband initially said no.

Since it was shown they have been in demand for their cooking and Mrs Martin, 65, has now started her own home-cooking business called Town Kitchen.

She added: “It’s something we have never done before and it was a great success. We love a challenge.”
