Almost £25,000 was handed out to local good causes and the national Royal Marines Charitable Trust.
The cash came from a run of 10 performances of the Sgt’s Mess pantomime Wonky Willy at Deal’s Astor Theatre earlier this month.
A total of £10,000 was given to the Marines charity and the rest was shared out at a prize-giving at the Royal Marines Association Club in the Strand, Walmer, on Saturday.
Among the 39 organisations to collect grants was depression help group Talk it Out, which has bases in Deal and Sandwich.
Others included the Deal Memorial Bandstand Trust, Royal Marines Association Club, 2nd Deal (Walmer) Sea Scouts, Deal Festival of Music and the Arts, and Deal Royal Marines Heritage Trail.
Dave Russell, Sgt’s Mess pantomime treasurer, said: “This will bring our donations to good causes since the pantomime was revived in 2013 to a total £144,300.”
For those who would like to buy a copy of the Wonky Willy DVD for £10, send payment to Joy Hughes, 14 John Tapping Close, Walmer, or telephone 01304 369401.
