A mother has described her three-year-old son as “our little hero” after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Melany Price says Matthew is battling through each day as he knows best. “He is a miniature hero,” she said.

And she is promising to have her head shaved if donations to a brain tumour charity reach £1,000 by the end of next month.

Matthew, who will be four next month, was diagnosed with a very rare kind of tumour after he had a seizure and was rushed to Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in London.

Melany and her partner Robert, from Aycliffe, have two other children, Isabelle, aged three, and Logan who is one.

They say they have received a lot of support from the charity Brain Tumour UK which is committed to fighting brain tumours by providing support, funding research and raising awareness.

So they decided to raise £1,000 for the charity, and if that target is reached by July 30, Melany will have her head shaved. “Cutting off my nice much-loved hair does not come close to what he’s been through,” she said.

Donations can be made by text to 70070, MTSJ61 and the amount £1, or via the website www.justgiving.com/melany-price and UK taxpayers can Gift Aid their donations.
