Air ambulance lands opposite Tides Leisure Centre in Deal after person collapses

An air ambulance landed opposite a leisure centre over the bank holiday weekend to airlift someone who was in a serious condition to hospital.

The helicopter was spotted in a field opposite Tides Leisure Centre in Deal on Monday afternoon.

Abigail Francis took a video of the aircraft landing next to a paramedic’s car.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said they were called just after 1pm to Beach Street following reports someone had collapsed.

“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance Service,” they said.

“The person received treatment at the scene before being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.”

It comes after the air ambulance was also called to Kingsdown in Deal on Sunday afternoon following reports of a car going off a cliff. It has now been confirmed a man in his 50s died during the incident.

Other emergency services including fire, police, ambulance as well as the coastguard were called to the incident in Kingsdown.
