River parish councillors will be presenting a 600-signature petition to the district council on Monday calling on them to take more action against motorists who cause congestion outside the village primary school.
There has been concern for many months about people parking on double-yellow lines and the zig-zag lines, particularly at the start and end of the school day, causing danger to children and parents.
The situation has been highlighted in the Mercury in the past and a few weeks ago parents who caused congestion with their cars outside the school were warned they could find themselves facing tough action when the new term started this month.
Copies of the petition were circulated throughout the village and more than 600 signatures have been collected.
The parish councillors are asking for the civil enforcement officers to be sent to the area at these busy times to take action against offenders.
