Deal’s most successful annual coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support will be held again on Saturday, September 5, this time at a new venue.
Georgina Bishop’s charity get-together started in her front room in Middle Street about 12 years ago. Since then she has raised more than £30,000.
The first one raised £250, and the yearly bash has grown significantly, hosted at local pubs with live music.
Last year’s coffee morning raised about £2,000 and she hopes the coming event at the Alma in West Street will be just as popular.

Among the contributors to the success of the fundraiser are the Dodge family. Sisters Olivia, 15, and Hannah have been involved since they were little.
Olivia started off painting nails for donations but their business minds have matured and now she is making and selling accessories for dogs, while her sister is making and selling hampers for the second year running.
“They have helped since they were little,” said Mrs Bishop.

Many donations have been given by businesses and individuals for the raffle, including lots of meals at the town’s best restaurants.
The bar will be open and teas, coffees and cake will be on sale.
Georgina Bishop’s Macmillan coffee morning will be held at the Alma, West Street, Deal from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, September 5.
