It’s the app that everyone is talking about and today it helped find a Deal 12-year-old's missing bike.

Pokémon Go is a newly released reality mobile game that has taken the world by storm.

It uses your phone’s GPS and clock to detect where and when you are in the game, and through the camera it makes Pokémon ‘appear’ around you, so you can go and catch them.

Kelly Eastley, of Sutton Road, Deal, was out playing the game with her three children; Kayla, eight, Warren, seven, and Enya, five, this morning when they made the discovery.

She said: “The children woke me up at 5am wanting to go on a Pokémon hunt, so at 6.15am we heading out with the dogs.

“The app took us to Ripple church to catch our first Pokémon.

"Just before we got to the church, Kayla noticed a bike against the bush. I remember the day before seeing a post on Facebook about a stolen BMX so I contacted the person.

“My eldest took it home for us to put in a safe place until it could be picked it up.”

The bike belonged to 12-year-old Joe Harket who attends Goodwin Academy, formerly known as Castle Community College.

It had been reportedly taken while he was out with school friends in Walmer, yesterday.

His mother Elizabeth Harket, of Gilford Road, Deal said: “He put his bike down, took his eye off it and when he went back, it was gone. He was absolutely gutted because he loves his bike.”

Both Ms Harket and her son were thrilled when Mrs Eastley got in touch with the good news.

She said: “When I went to pick it up she said they had been out at 6.30am. They went out hunting for Pokémon and found my son’s bike!

“Joe was really pleased.”
