Witnesses are being sought after a man was seen on a cliff edge moments before a body was discovered on the shore.
A man's body was recovered from the sea close to the shore at St Margaret's Bay yesterday afternoon.
The discovery was made on the stretch of coast, between Dover and Deal, at just before 2.30pm.
Now police are appealing for witnesses who might have seen a man waiting at the cliff edge between Dover and St Margaret's at Cliffe shortly before.
Kent Police believe the man is Polish and was living in London.
A spokesman said: "His death is not being treated as suspicious, but officers would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed a man on the cliff top at some time between noon and 2.25pm."
Police officers, including forensic officers, were joined by coastguard crews at the bay.
Witnesses reported seeing at least four Kent Police vehicles at the scene.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone DS Steve Mart on 101, quoting incident number 21-857.
