Halloween and fireworks night should be times when everyone enjoys themselves.
But the few people who may be out to cause trouble are being warned by the police that they face tough action being taken against them.
It’s the latest campaign by officers in Dover, Deal, Sandwich and the surrounding area.
“We want people to enjoy themselves, as these can be great times for communities to come together,” said Sgt Ian Swallow, from the Community Safety Unit.
“But there are those who are not so community-oreintated, and they are the targets of our campaign which runs from tomorrow (Friday) to November 7.
Special posters have been produced warning of the dangers associated with both these events.
“People can enjoy themselves but they also need to respect others, especially those who place posters in their windows or on their doors saying they do not want trick-or-treat callers at their homes.”
Posters are being distributed by the neighbourhood police teams and community wardens, and youngsters are also being given advice through their schools and from the fire service.
Fireworks can not be sold to anyone aged under 18, and no-one under that age should be in possession of them.
“We will be looking out for those who act in an irresponsible manner with fireworks, and there will be an increased police presence this weekend, October 29 to 31 for Halloween and on November 5 and 6.”
Patrols will include police officers, police community support officers and Kent County Council wardens.
Funding for the campaign has come from the Community Safety Partnership and the district council.
