Two men have been fined for failing to comply with a council notice ordering them to improve a Dover property.
At Canterbury Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Amjad Mohammed, 53, and Tafail Iqbal Khan, 57, pleaded guilty to the offence of non-compliance with a notice issued by Dover District Council under Section 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
The notice related to 1 Athol Terrace.
Magistrates fined each man £295 and ordered them to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £75 costs.
A notice is served under the act where it appears that the condition of a property adversely affects the area. The notice requires that the owners of the property concerned take steps to remedy the situation. Non compliance with a notice is a criminal offence.
A spokesman for the council said they were continuing to work with partners in the community to continue to regenerate Dover district for the future.
"A Section 215 Notice is only served as a last resort and a range of other measures are in place to help property owners and promote regeneration, including the No Use Empty Scheme," he said.
