Doctor Foster star Suranne Jones raised spirits on Saturday lunchtime when she was spotted dining at a seafront restaurant.
On a day when many shoppers were feeling glum about the loss of the town's Marks and Spencer store in Deal, she paid a visit to 81 Beach Street.
The former Coronation Street actress was accompanied by a friend and agreed to pose for a picture with supervisor Charlotte Janaway.
A spokesman for 81 Beach Street said: "Suranne Jones was absolutely lovely, a really genuine lady.
"She was visiting our fabulous town with a friend and greatly enjoyed her meal at 81.
"She was a pleasure to serve, we were delighted that she chose to eat with us."
The actress has come along way since she appearing as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street between 2000 and 2004.
Since leaving the soap opera, she's starred in Scott and Bailey, Doctor Foster and Vanity Fair, which was partly filmed in the town.
She will be return to screens next month in a new role as Anne Lister in BBC1's period drama Gentleman Jack.
