Richard Wallis successfully defended his Virgin Atlantic PGA Southern Open title at the Drift GC with a stunning 14-under-par total of 205.
The Walmer & Kingsdown professional (pictured) won £2,500, plus two tickets to any Virgin Atlantic destination, after finishing two shots in front of Mike McLean (Limpsfield Chart) at the Leatherhead course.
Despite a brilliant seven-under-par opening round of 66, Wallis only led by one stroke from Adrian Stuart (Leatherhead).
Wallis then shot a second round five-under-par 68 to be 12 under for two rounds and five shots in front. He said: "I putted pretty well and created plenty of opportunities around what is a challenging course."
Wallis had a couple of nervy moments in his final round 71, including a double bogey at the 17th but he recovered with a birdie at the final hole to win his second PGA South Region Order of Merit tournament of the year.
He added: "Winning my second OofM event, and my fifth win of the season so far, proves that the changes I’ve been working on with my coach, PGA professional Paul Page, for three years are paying off.
"It’s lifting my game to new levels and it’s exciting."
