There will be a whole load of soap and suds on show at Walmer lifeboat station today as volunteers host their annual charity car wash.
Lifeboat crew and shore crew members are inviting people to head down to the station in The Strand from 10am until 3pm.
They will get your car gleaming in exchange for a £7 donation. There will also be the opportunity to browse the lifeboat shop and view Walmer’s boats – the Atlantic 85 class Donald McLauchlan and D-class Duggie Rodbard.
Walmer lifeboat helmsman Dan Sinclair, whose business HandyDAN is sponsoring the event, said: “We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible.
“All of the money raised will go to the RNLI to be spent on lifesaving training for the crew, equipment and much more.”
RNLI volunteers are hoping people will dig deep this year after they stopped conducting door-to-door canvassing as part a national decision to adopt less intrusive ways of raising money but face a drop in income of up to £11 million in a year as a result.
