Heavy snow has turned east Kent into a winter wonderland - but is causing difficulty for motorists, pedestrians and commuters.
Main roads are passable with care. Abandoned cars on the side of the A258 Dover to Deal road are causing some problems. They have been covered with snow and owners will have to dig them out before they can drive them away.
Scores of schools in the Dover/Deal/Sandwich area were closed on Thursday and Friday. The Saturday Academy at Dover Grammar School for Boys has been cancelled.
Many side roads are still blocked, and ice has added to the treacherous situation faced by motorists and pedestrians. And with more snow forecast, conditions are expected to get worse.
Southeastern Trains are running a restricted service, with the high-speed trains operating between Dover and St Pancras and commuters being told their normal tickets will be valid on those services.
The advice from Kent Police is:
· Check the weather forecast and road conditions before you travel
· Make sure you have full visibility before driving, taking time to de-mist and de-ice all windows
· Use your lights
· Slow down
· Carry warm waterproof clothing, food, water and a torch in your vehicle in case weather conditions mean you have to stop
· Make sure you have plenty of fuel for your journey before you set off
· Pedestrians and cyclists, be vigilant and make sure you can be seen however you are travelling - this includes using lights and wearing high visibility clothing
