Dover played out a goalless draw at FA Cup heroes Staines in Blue Square South on Tuesday night.

Whites’ point, coupled with third-placed Woking losing 5-0 at Bath City, left Andy Hessenthaler’s side four points clear with a superior goal difference, although Woking have a game in hand.

However they needed a superb intervention on the line from Matt Fish (pictured) in stoppage time to deny the home side the win.

Adam Birchall was twice denied by Staines keeper Louis Wells in the first half before Dean Hill had to be replaced by Sam Gore at the break with Tom Wynter - who has signed a one-month loan extension from Gillingham - moving to centre-back.

Nicky Southall went close with a free-kick and Sammy Moore twice tested Wells before Wynter hobbled off to be replaced by Danny Walder, with Matt Fish reverting to centre-back.

Whitehouse tipped over a drive from Howard Newton in the closing stages and then in the dying seconds Newton smashed past Whitehouse, only for Fish to make a superb diving block to earn his side a point.
