Covid vaccines to start at Clockwork Pharmacy in Deal on Saturday following 'spirited' campaign

Covid vaccinations will begin in Deal this Saturday after a persistent campaign to bring jabs to the town.

Clockwork Pharmacy will be administering the vaccine thanks to volunteer nurses and extra pharmacists.

Appointments are for priority individuals who have already been invited by the health service to make appointments via the NHS booking system.

The pharmacy, at the South Street end of the High Street, is not able to make appointments and does not provide walk-in or stand-by appointments.

The news of the start date was put out on the Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) website and confirmed by the pharmacy this morning.

The CCG said the pharmacy would be providing vaccinations for "priority groups booked through the national booking service".

The site adds: "PLEASE NOTE. None of these locations offer a drop-in vaccination service. All vaccinations are arranged in advance through invitation based on the national priority groups.

Doctors and staff at Balmoral Surgery will be giving vaccinations at a date to be released
Doctors and staff at Balmoral Surgery will be giving vaccinations at a date to be released

Last week it was reported how Balmoral Surgery will be starting GP-led vaccinations.

As of this morning, no date had been released for this on the CCG's website and the surgery had not revealed a date when asked by KentOnline.

Vaccine sites were agreed following a spirited campaign led by councillors Susan Carlyle, Pam Brivio, also secretary of the Dover Senior Citizens Forum, and voluntary worker Terry Bishop who is shielding.

They were campaigning after it became apparent that vulnerable groups, many of them elderly, did not want to risk travelling to the district's only vaccine hub at Dover Health Centre in Maison Dieu Road.

Priority groups in Sandwich are being offered appointments in Broadstairs.
