The yobs who trashed Walmer Paddling Pool should be sent to jail, says Deal MP Charlie Elphicke. Mr Elphicke made his comments in the walk of some vicious vandalism at the pool on Saturday night.

A licence to sell burgers and other fast food on the promenade near Deal Pier should not be granted, say traders. Litter, late night noise and the smell of cooking would cheapen the town and the newly renovated seafront, they say.

The beach at Sandwich Bay was cordoned off when a member of the public spotted an unexploded bomb. Police arrived at the scene, opposite Prince’s Golf Club, at 10am, along with two members of the Army bomb disposal team, who detonated the bomb.

The long awaited re-opening of the swimming pool at Tides in Deal has happened just in time for the first week of the summer holidays. After five weeks of essential maintenance work to the filter, the pool was its usual splashy self on Tuesday for happy families.
