A toilet block has closed until further notice after vandals smashed a door and ripped a hand dryer off the wall.
The new facilities were damaged the same day they were installed in the men’s loos at Victoria Park in Deal, which have been targeted by “continued acts of vandalism”.
A spokesperson for Dover District Council (DDC) said: “We apologise that due to continued acts of vandalism, the gents public toilet at Victoria Park in Deal has had to be closed until further notice.
“Recent acts of vandalism included the external door being smashed and the electric hand dryer ripped off the wall.
“A new wooden door and new hand dryer was put in on Monday, and the door was smashed again on the same day.
“This has been reported to the police. If anyone has any information, please contact Kent Police.”
This is not the first time the toilets have had to close because of anti-social behaviour.
In November 2022 the council said it had been left with no option other than to close the facilities after “mindless vandals” made it “impossible to keep up with repairs”.
Walkers hit out at the loss of the facilities saying people had started urinating in bushes near the children’s play park.
In July 2022, three instances of criminal damage were reported to police at Victoria Park.
On the first occasion, a window was damaged, on the second, a toilet system was broken, and on the third, a hole was made in a slide in the children's play area.
Police have been approached for comment.
