Ten-man Dover suffered a disappointing defeat at Truro City as their perfect start to Blue Square Bet South came to an end on Saturday.
Whites boss Martin Hayes started with new signing Glen Southam on the bench and his side went close to an opening on 20 minutes when Harry Baker fired wide with a low shot from distance.
Whites keeper Lee Hook was forced off with a rib injury midway through the half, after a pass from Phil Starkey left him in trouble, with Ross Kitteridge coming off the bench to take over between the posts.
In a game of few chances the turning point arrived when Tom Wynter (pictured) was shown a red card four minutes before the break after an innocuous coming-together with a Truro striker, with the lively George Purcell being sacrificed for Nathan Ashton as a result.
After the break Billy Bricknell headed a Barry Cogan free-kick inches wide on 57 minutes but within two minutes the hosts took the lead when Marcus Martin's shot went in off the post, despite Kitteridge getting a hand to it, and the Whites were unable to find a response
