It will be all eyes to the sky tomorrow (Saturday) when members of the public are invited to try their hands at kite flying.
Walmer Parish Council in partnership with Kent Kite Flyers is offering everyone the chance to give it a go on Walmer Green, or simply watch the kite fly.
It takes place on Saturday, June 10 from 11am until 4pm adjacent to the Downs Sailing Club, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Cllr Pat Heath, chairman of Walmer Parish Council said: “After the success of last year’s inaugural event we are delighted to be offering this free family event once again for Walmer and Deal.
“The first one hundred and eighty children will be able to pick up a kite for free and then fly it.
“Experts from Kent Kite Flyers will also be on hand to give demonstrations with larger and more sophisticated models.”
Malcolm Ford of Kent Kite Flyers said, “Local people might recognise us from previous visits.
“Members have flown illuminated kites on the Green on several past November evenings to raise money for Children in Need.
“Walmer Green offers the perfect location for kite flying with lots of open space and beautiful views along the Strand and out across the English Channel.”
Kites will also be available to buy.
