Border Agency officers have seized around two million cigarettes hidden in a lorry load of insulation blocks.

The Polish-registered vehicle was stopped at Dover’s Eastern Docks on Sunday. The revenue lost was estimated to be £380,000.

Paul Booth, Border Force assistant director for Dover, said: "This was an excellent detection by our officers.

"The cigarettes had been well hidden and professionally wrapped in an attempt to evade UK Border Agency controls."

The 40-year-old driver was questioned by Customs and Revenue officers and released without charge.
