A charity is helping to ease the stress and cost of sending children back to school with a uniform recycling project.
United Families UK based in Deal is appealing for all unwanted school uniform which remains in a good condition to be made available for those who need it.
Items such as shirts, blouses, polo shirts, trousers, skirts, blazers, PE kit and shoes are being accepted.
They can be dropped off at the charity's offices at 17-23 Queen Street, Deal - above Paydens the chemist - any time between 8.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Entry is via the car park at the back.
The clothes will be available to buy from as little as 10p from Monday, September 7.
United Families UK is a newly formed charity offering advice, support and guidance to mothers, fathers and families in need.
Founder and chairman Luke Shaw has based the project on a successful scheme in neighbouring Dover .
"So many people struggle with the cost of school uniforms across all income brackets..."
He said: "I set the uniform project up after seeing it be so successful at The Dover Big Local during my time doing drop-in services for the charity.
"I always promised myself that as soon as we have space, we would launch it for our local families.
"So many people struggle with the cost of school uniforms across all income brackets, so by encouraging people to donate good quality items, it means we stop unnecessary wastage of clothing, whilst providing an affordable alternative to everyone whatever their circumstances.
"The items will be available via donation, such as 10p for shirts, blouses and polos and £2 for blazers, etc."
Since being announced on social media, the project has been well received by parents.
Elspeth Hobbs commented: "This is such a good idea, especially first year secondary school uniform. The price of a whole new branded kit is extortionate."
Mr Shaw added: "The response has been really good. We have had offers from Dover, Medway and Thanet to get involved in the idea and plenty of enquiries.
"Our kettle is always on if they need a chat as well, and our food bank is also there if they need a food parcel (no vouchers needed)."
