People passing by a previously boarded-up car showroom have seen a spruce up has resulted in artwork being displayed there.
Kwik Fit in Queen Street used to be a Caffyns car showroom some 20 years ago but has faced criticism that its run-down state makes it an unwelcoming eyesore.
Owners Chris and Sally Robinson of neighbouring C.M. Robinson Solicitors, wanted to rid themselves of the dreary frontage and make it more pleasing.
The change of use, instigated by Mrs Robinson, has seen the unsightly hoardings removed and an expanse of windows showcase a mix of 3D artwork.
Mrs Robinson said she placed a strong emphasis on finding quality, handmade pieces.
Artists Steve Clarke, Barry Feldman, David Gisby and Emily Stone’s pieces include furniture, stained glass work and copper creatures that brighten up the Queen Street corner.
Any resulting sales of art are made directly by the artist, meaning they receive all profits.
Mrs. Robinson said: “Most people who have walked past have commented on how wonderful it is. One resident said how refreshing it is to see something different and creative done with a previously disused and unloved space.
“The artists were very excited when I offered them the showroom and there has already been an inquiry for one of the items.”
