Kingsdown and Ringwould Primary School has gone from good to outstanding in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
The school in Glen Road received a visit from the regulators over two days in January.
Its last encounter with Ofsted in 2013 saw the school rated as good, but, with all improvements worked on, it has now been given the top grade in all areas.
The report rated it outstanding because of the quality of teaching provided, with children of all abilities achieving well.
It said: “The school is permeated by an agreed set of values which are understood and lived by the pupils.
“This makes a highly positive contribution to outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
“The exceptional individual attention which nourishes each pupil’s aspirations and talents is mirrored by the continuous development of staff.” There was only one pointer given to the school to help it develop, which was to make sure that the excellent quality of writing and presentation seen in English work is reflected in other subjects.
To celebrate, the staff and pupils were treated to cupcakes provided by members of the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association.
Head teacher Rose Cope, who has been with the school for a decade, said: “It was the outcome we had hoped for and worked towards for so many years.
'We are so proud and we have really stuck to our morals which really came through in the report' - Head teacher, Rose Cope
“We are so proud and we have really stuck to our morals which really came through in the report – that what we are doing is very holistic.”
She said that the school’s last two inspections had been good with outstanding features.
She said: “The children are phenomenal. Their behaviour generally speaking is exemplary anyway, but they made the most of it by taking the inspectors on tours and discussing every display in the school.”
