A pensioner with Parkinson’s disease has been left with multiple bruises and a broken nose after he was knocked down in a Deal car park.
Tony Friend, 74, says he was hit by a reversing van in the St George’s Road car park.
He was taken to QEQM Hospital in Margate, where he was treated for cuts, bruises, a broken nose and a bitten lip.
The regular contributor of photographs to KentOnline's sister paper the East Kent Mercury also smashed his new camera.
He is now warning other pedestrians of the dangers and asking drivers to be more vigilant.
Mr Friend, who lives in Park Street, said: "I was with my twin, Maurice. We’d been to the Saturday market and were walking through the car park by Deal Town Hall to get to the West Street car park where he was parked.
"I just remember a paramedic standing over me" - Tony Friend
"I was walking in front of him. What happened after that I don’t remember.
"I just remember a paramedic standing over me."
He has thanked those who stopped to help him, including a cyclist and a man who came to his aid with a chair. He also commended the nurse who treated him.
He said: "It’s been very painful. I’ve been stiff all over. I’d just like to warn others to be careful."
Rich Airey from the ambulance service said: "We were called at 11.10am on Saturday to reports a man had been injured by a van in the town hall car park.
"Paramedics in a car and an ambulance attended the scene. The man, aged in his 70s, was assessed and treated for facial injuries before being taken to QEQM hospital in Margate."
Police also confirmed they attended the incident.
