POLICE have received several reports about children walking to and from school being approached by a stranger in a car.

It is believed the man may be driving a blue coloured Peugeot car. The incidents have all happened in the Deal area.

Police say that in all the cases so far, the children involved have done the right thing: run away and reported it to a responsible adult.

Parents are being advised to ensure their children are reminded about the stranger danger advice they are given at school.

Officers have been given details of these incidents and will be stepping up patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

Youth crime reduction officer, WPC Fran Fryer-Kelsey said: “The children who have been involved in these incidents are to be applauded for acting in a very sensible, grown up way.

“It shows that the Stranger Danger advice given out by parents and at school really works to keep kids safe and is worth repeating:”

* Never go with a stranger

* Never get in a car with a stranger

* Never take things from a stranger

* Never go off on your own and keep with other children

* Never be afraid to say “No"

* If you cannot run home tell someone you can trust.
