Police have seized a vehicle belonging to a nuisance biker as a warning to others riding in an anti-social manner.
A 17-year-old boy had his black and white Husqvarna bike confiscated by officers on Saturday after ignoring a previous warning against riding in an anti-social manner.
Officers had witnessed the motorcyclist attempting stunts in the Tides car park, in Deal.
A report had also been received by officers of a bike being ridden in an anti-social manner the previous night.
PCSOs Gary Painter and Garry Faulkner attended and seized the bike, under section 59 of the Police Reform Act - which states that a vehicle can be seized if an offender receives two such warnings for anti-social driving in less than 12 months.
The vehicle can then be crushed if the costs for its recovery and storage are not paid.
Inspector Guy Thompson, of Dover Community Safety Unit said: “The motorcyclist had been issued with a warning in April so on this second occasion we seized the bike.
“We have removed one nuisance biker from the area and we want to thank those who have reported any instances of anti-social riding as the information provided is crucial and allows officers to take action swiftly and appropriately.
“The majority of bike owners ride sensibly and considerately but the small minority of those who do not, can have a detrimental effect on the community.
“Let this be a warning to other potential nuisance bikers that if they are seen riding in a careless of inconsiderate manner, or causing distress to others, we will take appropriate action to stop it. Over this summer we will be working with our Motorcycle Unit to tackle this issue across the district.”
To report a nuisance biker call 101. If you can, note the registration number of the vehicle and if known, the name and address of the driver.
