Motorbike owners have been left “devastated” after a spate of thefts and vandalism.
At least five bikes were reportedly stolen and later discovered damaged or destroyed in the Deal area on Sunday, December 1.
Among those affected was Mr Mamaev, 20, who woke up to find his Zontes motorcycle missing from Liverpool Road, Walmer. It was later recovered, but extensive damage had been done.
He told KentOnline: “They managed to cut most of the electrics. The headlights are broken, the handlebar fairings are absolutely shattered, the front indicators are shattered, and also the ignition barrel.
“The license plate has also been stolen.
“Honestly, we feel absolutely devastated.
“We thought that Deal was a nice place to live, but clearly not. We were really shocked that this has happened to so many in the area.”
Having purchased the bike for £2,000 in February, Mr Mamaev estimated the repairs will cost at least £500.
KentOnline has been sent images of several stolen and damaged bikes.
Reports on social media indicated at least four others had their bikes taken and later dumped in nearby areas.
Andrew Herbert, who had his black Honda moped stolen from Cornwall Road, Deal, says the insurance company has told him his vehicle has been “completely written off”.
Police have confirmed they are investigating three of the thefts.
A spokesperson said: “A motorcycle stolen from Liverpool Road, Walmer, between 11pm on Saturday, November 30, and 10am the following morning, was later recovered near Alexandra Road and The Beach.
“Officers are also investigating the theft of a motorbike from Cornwall Road, which was recovered in Telegraph Road, and a third incident in Sandown Road, where another stolen bike was located.”
