Egg hunt and bike ride among Easter fun in Deal, Dover and Sandwich

Hop down to Betteshanger Country Park for an energy-fuelled Easter weekend, where there will be more than just an egg hunt.

The site near Deal will host its highly anticipated annual Easter egg hunt at 10am on Good Friday.

Gems will be scattered throughout the 250-acre park and families are invited to hunt for the treasures and, on return of their riches to the visitor centre, will claim a chocolate egg.

Easter attire is encouraged and a super-size egg will be presented to the best dressed participant. There is a charge of £3 per egg hunter. Booking is not required.

New for 2016, on Saturday, is the park’s Hot Cross Bunny Bike Ride, which as well as being fun, is a chance to burn off some of that chocolate.

Riders will follow the bike trail and discover the hot crosses located around the park.

Any riders sporting bunny ears or tails will receive an extra prize.

Riders will be able to follow the trail from Easter Saturday to Easter Monday.

It will take about one hour and is suitable for riders of all abilities, aged eight years and over.

It is not suitable for tag-alongs or buggies. It costs £3 per rider. Booking is not required.

There will be a chance to test your skills daily with the bunny hop contest, egg and spoon race and egg rolling, all starting from the race area at 30-minute intervals over the weekend; or get creative with Easter craft activities in the visitor centre.

The country park is offering an “Easter egg-stravaganza” pass, for just £7 per person, which permits you to take part in all Easter activities and save money.

Betteshanger Country Park’s general manager, Lorraine Cheesmur, said: “We are very excited to be once again hosting our annual Easter Egg Hunt, as well as introducing some new activities for 2016, including our first Hot Cross Bunny Bike Ride.

“It’s going to be a great value energy-fuelled weekend for all the family and a perfect start to the school holiday.”
