A new carnival court of Dover will be chosen for 2012 this weekend.
Members of the 2011 court attended a tea at Dover Town Council offices where they were thanked by the Mayor, Cllr Ronnie Philpott, for the work they had done during the previous 12 months.
The Mayor had invited the girls to bring along the many trophies they had won throughout the year.
"The girls were proud to wear Dover Town Crest on their sashes, and their award-winning float, which was paid for by the town council, also sported the crest," said Dover Town Carnival chairman Michelle Sheppard.
The retiring courts are junior queen Holly Andrew and princesses Tia Quint and Katie Sheppard, senior queen Carris Ffrench and princesses Laura McDermott and Kayleigh Anderton.
On Saturday, the court of 2012 will be selected at The Qube at St Radigund’s Road.
"All our current court members are now too old to re-enter the junior competition and we are very much looking forward to meeting some new girls," said Mrs Sheppard.
The categories are Rosebud Queen age five to seven, with registration at noon, junior court age eight to 12, with registration also at noon, and the senior court age 13 to 21, with registration at 6.30pm.
Entry forms are available at the door, all entrants must live in the postcode areas of CT16, CT17 or CT18 and if they are under 18 they must be accompanied by an adult.
The Mayor will crown the Junior Court and the Deputy Mayor will crown the senior court.
